HUDC1. 3 March 2011. WYSIWYG. Using Bourriaud’s relational aesthetic, coming up with a post-optimal object which does not conform to historic presumptions of object design. The use of wood (“bucky ball blocks”) and binding wire (“superflexy”) allowed for easy construction (“wireframe”) and wrapping paper finish (“texturing”). Bucky balls point to a tenet of universal object design which resemble atoms and molecules. Superflexy is satiristic with the intention of bringing attention to the fact that using your hands to design is easy and anybody can do it. The wireframe concept indicates that the design is still up for review and only designed using the available tools (bucky balls and superflexy). The “texture” give the object a shiny veneer which indications that this is a prototype and the final materials for contruction is to be decided (most likely aluminium).
